Etienne Sauzet

A bit of reduction on the nose. Smoky fruit on the palate, a bit more weight than the Villages. Very mineral, wet stones, grilled almonds and flowers followed by a tangy grapefruit finish.

Wine Spectator

A delicious young white, from the acacia, lime blossom and hazelnut aromas and flavors to the long, mineral- and spice-tinged aftertaste. It's all underscored by a vibrant structure. Best from 2012 through 2024.

Score: 92. —Bruce Sanderson, August 31, 2010.

Wine Advocate

From high up above Puligny and south of Blagny, the 2007 Puligny Montrachet La Garenne exhibits distinctive chalkiness and invigorating notes of lemon zest and pepper in the context of a rather brash acidity, all aspects many observers would associate with high elevation and high active lime in the soil. Boudot intimates that it is a challenging vintage for wines from the rocky nose-bleed sections of the Cote. But frankly, I rather admire the tight, bright, focused, invigorating, energetically thrusting personality on exhibit here. Bittersweet floral and high-toned herbal notes serve for further complexity all the way through to the wine's long finish. I'd especially like to check out where this is in a couple of years, and suspect it might well reward 6-8 years in bottle.

Score: 90. —David Schildknecht, December 2009.
