Masi
Masi produces exclusively premium wines which are modern in style but deeply rooted in tradition. The grapes used are mostly indigenous varieties of the region. They are vinified using traditional systems, like "appassimento", combined with modern techniques. The result is that each single wine has a unique personality, even maintaining the style of the region. Modern, pleasant, well-balanced and recognizable wines which have earned Masi recognition for having "revolutionized the art of wine-making in the Veneto", and which Hugh Johnson has defined as "a touchstone for Veronese enology". Amarone and Reciotos: The winery is specialized in the production of Amarones and Reciotos, using the historic technique of "appassimento" (drying of the grapes), and has gained worldwide reputation, the only one producing seven of them, five of which are single vineyards. Supervenetian reds: Masi rediscovered and refined the technique of refermentation using semi-dried grapes, and markets two special and successful wines: Campofiorin Ripasso(r) and its special selection Brolo di Campofiorin (Masi registered trade marks). Some of the most recent expressions of Masi are "Toar" and "Osar". "Toar" is immediately recognized as "a new concept for a wine made exclusively from indigenous fresh (not dried) grapes from Verona". "Osar" is the fruit of a microvinification of a secondary variety, called Oseleta, which gives more intensity and richness to the regular Valpolicella. Classics and Crus: Together with the three D.O.C. Veronese wines from the classico areas (Soave, Valpolicella and Bardolino), Masi produces some of the most significant single vineyards: Colbaraca Soave, Serego Alighieri Valpolicella, and La Vegrona Bardolino.
