Chateau Pape Clement

Hearty, ample, velvety, rather close to Mission in the richness of its makeup, with a stronger use of wood, it has significant length and very refined and harmonious tannins, with a pleasantness rare in Pessac. Very racy vintage.

Wine Spectator

Intense aromas of crushed berry, mineral, tobacco and smoke. Full-bodied, with silky tannins and loads of ripe, rich fruit. Goes on for minutes. This is tight and well-structured. Best after 2011.

Score: 93. —James Suckling, March 31, 2006.

Wine Advocate

Deep garnet. Some cedar is still apparent on the very youthful nose, slightly masking the otherwise attractive cranberry, plums and cassis fruit aromas with a whiff of cloves. The palate is well balanced with medium to high acidity and medium to firm, ripe, velvety tannins. Long finish. Drink now to 2025. Tasted February 2009.

Score: 93. —Robert Parker, March 2009.

Wine Enthusiast

88-90 A well-balanced use of new wood gives this wine great potential. It shows spice, dark fruit flavors and solid wood tannins. A fine success.

Score: 90. —Roger Voss, June 03, 2004.
